My Story

“Student life is tough. Let’s figure stuff out.”

I have been teaching for 15 years. Graduating in law from the University of Bristol and falling into teaching unexpectedly, I know how important it is to follow your passion, be flexible but ultimately having discipline and dedication to achieve new goals constantly.

Whilst teaching, I realised what I was more concerned about was my students’ mental well-being. I noticed that when I followed a student’s lead in their learning styles, personalities, level of motivation, etc, my lessons were delivered much more effectively. The truth was, even though I spent a relatively short time teaching the curriculum, yet my students were scoring As soon after.

I started to see the connection between connecting with a student and academic success. My curiosity and my passion to be a better teacher led me to an academic coaching course online with a school in the US. Malaysia was not offering any courses in academic coaching. Connecting with similar people who were so passionate about improving learning outcomes by strengthening EQ, executive function skills and mental well-being has been an enlightening journey.

I, myself signed up with a life coach as I saw the benefit of someone seeing my blind spots, motivating me and tapping into my strengths in my new role of a coach and entrepreneur. This journey has been life changing and I’m excited about coaching students to become self-aware, productive and thinking adults. I believe coaching, when used hand in hand with traditional school, closes the gap between school and real life to create well-adjusted, successful and thriving adults.

I also still currently teach and conduct workshops at prep.works
